People are often very messed up, petty, uneducated, and mean. The tech industry as a whole abandoned it's barrier it had built between it's workers and the customer during the "Consumerization of IT" era, beginning in 2007-8.I have some thoughts on this applying to the tech sector as a whole, and it causing a lot of dev/admin woes... I need to put it to words...I need to think about it some more though.

but basically, no employer should put an employee in the line of fire for the angry mob.Now it's SOP for many organizations. This is weak, bad, leadership. We let the business people take control of operations, and this is what we get.

Those words don't do it justice.Cowardly leadership blames those below.Brave leadership takes the hit and moves on.

@thegibson it all comes down to a simple maxim I apply in every gig: Give credit, take blame. Always.

@TheGibson @JibrilTheFlugel-> Link with some context for future readers who are/were out of the loop as I was until moments ago: https://comicbook.com/gaming/2018/11/04/blizzard-negative-reaction-diablo-immortal-not-expected/I also found one about the developer getting lots of abuse since but now the site is down.

@eloisa @TheGibson They weren't blaming the devs tho were they? They were more saying that they took a leap of faith and inspiration from the eastern market and decided to bring it the the west

@thegibson It's extending into many disciplines. The idea that managers shield their people from noise is becoming a dying approach in management it feels like.

@chidgey Then my question becomes "What is the purpose of managers?"I am very happy that I work for an ESOP.

@clock @thegibson As a manager, my rule to promote a motivated team is that it is always either "we succeeded" or "I screwed up".
