@Gargron Favourite-like has always seems like it's the wrong feature. People never used it for what it presented itself as.Wondering if Slack-style freeform emoji reactions aren't a lot closer to what people actually want.

@Gargron when the only reason they have any content/culture in the first place is a bunch of Something Awful refugees chasing the favstar numbers back in the day.Perfect summary of the BS is that I saw a Twitter Moments about people's favourite vines. They will commodify that which they killed then marvel at their own stagnation

@Gargron I wish they'd just remove the stupid shit and keep the 'like' option. I enjoy clicking 'like' to show friends I've read their posts when I'm unable to think of a reply or physically unable to do more than click 'like.' @_@

@Gargron would you ever consider making Mastodon’s Favourite button allow you to assign an emoji to it like Slack does? I feel it would add more flexibility to the function without changing anything for people who prefer the current functionality (especially if just tapping favourite still gives you a ⭐️ by default, and pressing it again allows you to either remove the favourite or change it to another emoji)I think it would be fun to see custom emojis as reactions to toots.
