i wonder if there's a makerspace nearby where i can use a 3d printer cheaper than ordering one from shapeways or something

@jizzwitch yeah!it's sorta similar to an actually sold keyboard called the Kinesis Advantage2pretty sure that's the only commercial keyboard like itbut it's a merger of two DIY ergonomic keyboards -- the dactyl and the manuform. the thumb bit is from the manuform, the rest is dactyl

@pea @jizzwitch do you have links to files? I have access to a printer and I already have a bag of MX switches so I might make this for fun

@crushv @jizzwitch you generate the stl file from clojure actuallyhttps://github.com/abstracthat/dactyl-manuformthere's a 4x5 .stl and a 5x6 .stl linked farther down the page though (40% and 60% respectively)I'm probably planning to stick to the 4x5 because I'm of the opinion that if it gets too big the ergonomics actually fail because you have to move your hand more and the shape means that you'll be moving in a strange way, even more than with the dactyl itself because of the design of the thumb cluster

@crushv @jizzwitch (the thumb cluster is basically designed in a way where you can reach the different "columns" of it by pivoting the joint where your thumb connects to your hand, so if you have to reach up too much it causes trouble
