I wish there existed a group of people that would turn up at marches where there is state resistance in Federation Uniforms and hand out bottles of water, masks, etc.

Not so much to participate in the march, but to provide aid to those who need it, call ambulances or otherwise provide safe transport and tools to people in the march.

Like the reason for the Federation Uniform is that it's distinctive enough to pick out of a crowd, but it's very obviously non-threatening as well. It's difficult to claim someone in such a uniform might eventually pose a threat, for example.

@alexandria i love this idea. and not just because it's the best excuse i've yet heard to buy and don starfleet gear.

@Ricardus @alexandria gotta go with TNG. not just because it's my favourite in the franchise: also it's the most we're-just-here-to-observe-and-help of all the iterations.

@nydelYEAH!! Also I kind of feel it helps perpetuate Roddenberry's vision of it? At least in part?

@alexandria yes! did you see "chaos on the brig" where they talk about how tough it was to begin writing TNG, a show where none of the characters are petty a-holes? that's what roddenberry was aiming for in my mind. and why the pilot for OS was unairable and later split into two episodes with a framing device.

@nydelYeah I saw some part of it? Honestly this is why I hold the controversial opinion that the first three seasons of TNG were better than the rest :^)OS?

@alexandria i love the first seasons too and even the cast says they're near unwatchable. especially S01E01, i remember patrick stewart saying he has no idea what the episode is about haha.(OS is for "original series" i.e. the one staring leonard nimoy, deforrest kelly and that other guy whose name i can't remember)

@nydel@RicardusIndeed! The TOS era are too... glitzy, the DS9 era is too dull to stand out, VOY era seems like it'd still have problems with it. and ENT and DIS are too boilersuit-y (DIS to a lesser extent tbh)

@nydel @alexandria Hmmm... possibly. But the DS9 Jumpsuit utilities look super comfy.

@alexandria @nydel I just texted her to remind her I bought the pattern, the fabric, and the patch years ago.
