@cat Hey, sorry, I'm coming in to this quite late and trying to figure out what happened - your SDF Mastodon account and aNONradio mountpoint were shut down? What about your SDF shell account? And what was this presumably in response to? Feel free to email me if you don't want to talk about this on Mastodon, or not to talk about it at all if you don't want to. Just very curious to know the story here.

@solderpunk @cat anyone who blocks christina can't be worth getting worked up about - i wouldn't worry about it cat. Also, loved your show on tildeverse yesterday. Really good stuff I'd never heard before. https://radio.tildeverse.org/radio/8000/radio.ogg (sorry, dunno where the archive is)

@tomasino @gemlog @cat Abuses of authority from positions of power in "communities" which go on and on about how much better they are than commercial alternatives *are* worth making a fuss about. Especially if Cat's mountpoint was summarily removed. SDF has a bad problem with mistreating what should be its most valuable users - those who create world-visible content. The phloggers know what I'm talking about. Is this spreading to aNONradio DJs too?

@solderpunk the short story is i moved my mastodon to my own instance and then my old one was deleted and my new one was blocked by the SDF, coincidentally my aNONradio mountpount stopped working too.Membership actually got back to me about the mountpoint last night and apparently it was because I cancelled my MetaARPA membership 🤷♀️

@ben @tomasino @solderpunk @cat @cosullivan Step back from the present situation for a second.I was thinking how can we avoid and prevent such random dictatorships? We can not. Not within a particular org.But we have this fixed already: We can fork projects and create new orgs. The internet is magnificent!Just needs a bit of refining. Onion, pgp, darknet, mesh... we'll get there. Maybe not in my lifetime, but soon.

@gemlog @ben @solderpunk @cat @cosullivan I don't mind dictatorships when there is easy travel to new communities. That being said, I prefer to spend my efforts in making my current community as kind and welcoming as possible. I'm not sure what's going on, whether it is intentional or there are issues from lack of attention. I think it's time to ask directly.

@tomasino @cosullivan @solderpunk @ben @gemlog it looks like i'm back on aNONradio; the mountpoint change was accidental, just really badly timed so it seemed like it coincided with my Mastodon deletion and blocking by the SDF account. I was wrong but with the dismissive arrogant way the admins talk to users and that chain of events I stand by my assumption. 🐱🗯

@cat @cosullivan @solderpunk @ben @gemlog glad your mount point is back. I did send a DM to the SDF Mastodon admin asking for more information on that front.I'm fine with system dictators but my presence is not compulsory. Community relies upon respect regardless of power. Basic communication is an expectation I have of that respect.

@tomasinoThis is why I've been keen to see the next generation of free/cooperative shell & hosting efforts arise, like the tildes and hashbang. sdf for its problems still rumbles along, but grex and m-net look a shambles.@gemlog @ben @solderpunk @cat @cosullivan

@tomasino @cat @cosullivan @ben @gemlog Basic communication is probably the thing SDF is worst at.
