It's cool to think that if we ever constructed permanent settlements on the moon, two people on the earth and moon could communicate by flashing Morse code at each other with laser pointers. Assuming they hold them steady enough and maybe had telescopes

There was a test done a while ago to see if people could communicate with the ISS with signal lights and the answer was "very yes" so I don't think this is very far-fetched. http://www.fragileoasis.org/blog/2012/3/a-flashing-success/
