       at one point i had strong hopes that the #forktogether movement would result in a foundation which could do the heavy fundraising that Mastodon and the fediverse needs.now it looks more and more like it will be pleroma that leads the way on that.

       to truly take the fight where we need to take it, the fediverse needs projects with multi-million dollar endowments.  this is why we have never messed around with patreon or anything like that.  it's not enough.

       @kaniini VCs want a return on investment though, what could pleroma possibly give them? I did see you mentioning some were willing to get on board because of FOMO but that won't work for the majority...

       @crushv @kaniini They'll settle for stopping losses.  npm got funding mostly because so many VCs have Nodejs companies in their portfolios. If npm disappears, those companies spend time and money floundering.So to get Pleroma funded, make dumb SF startups depend on it.I don't see an easy/good way to do that. (Sell AGPL exceptions? Sell official "enterprise" deployments? Sell BI tools?)
