@HexDSL As someone without the competence or Haskell knowledge to use the others, this is a comfort. i3 ftw!

@malin honestly after a couple of days of messing i3 is the best balance between customisation and functionality. i just wish it could open new windows in a smarter way by default.

@HexDSL @malin check out i3run, it is a run, raise, hide command for i3. Maybe it have the feature you are seeking, if not, i might be able to implement it. Or install sway, it's way better (i am in the process of porting i3ass to sway, and i might go sway all the way soon)https://github.com/budlabs/i3ass/tree/master/i3run

@bud Last time I tried that something broke .... Ffmpeg or vokoscreen or some recorder. But if it's on Void or arch I'll give it a go. Can I have both versions of i3 at the same time?

@malin the way BSPWM opens new things (fibonacci) if intelligent. if i keep opening things in i3 i get a lot of windows in a single row. i *can* change them with ease sure but automation of that would be far better

@HexDSL I didn't want that feature until I knew about it. Horizontal then vertical on repeat seems a good default.
