       Two questions:

       1) As far as pets go, my timeline is filled with cats (which is totally cool, by the way). I rarely see dog posts here. Does that mean that there's some correlation between solarpunk personalities and preference for cats over dogs?

       2) I saw an article yesterday lamenting the use of passwords for most sites (besides sites that need extra security, like bank, email, etc.). Do you guys know if anyone has ever tried the equivalent of SSH keys for websites? I know that there are now USB keys for 2FA, but is there something like SSH keys that replaces passwords altogether?

Maybe I just tend to prefer and follow cat people; maybe it has nothing to do with solarpunkism.

@jrc03c Nope. There's a niche for everything. @rtwx set up an instance for dog lovers! canine.cloud is what you're looking for.

@jrc03cI'm reviving some online games from before cookies were widely accepted and the native authentication method of the first game (secret URLs sent to email) is flawed in the extreme. I'm looking at alternate workflows, mostly evolving around a short lived OTP-based link sent over ActivityPub DM, but I'd be interested in other workflows alongside or instead of this

@puffinus_puffinus @rtwx Oh, I actually prefer cats, to be honest, and I'm happy with the proportion of cats to dogs in my feed. I was just musing. :)

@jrc03c Cats strive to challenge the status quo and dream of pushing capitalism off the table

@jrc03c client side SSL certificates. But it's poorly supported and kind of a pain to set up.
