#ScreenshotSunday trying to study for my exam tomorrow. Why do college professors avoid PDFs like the plague and insist on MSOffice file formats for their presentations? #Debian

@matt Because MS Office is a toxic plague. Once you catch it, its hard to get rid of (even if you'd like to).

@matt I hate that, luckily my current professor doesn't care. However every single time somebody has required me to turn in .doc or .docx items, I always just use libre office and save in docx if it works well or run Windows in a VM

@matt I had a pretty good run with professors that distribute study materials and accept assignments in PDF... until last term. This dude docked me 30% on a paper because it wasn’t in doc or docx. Good luck on the exam.

@lufthans honestly I'm satisfied with PDFs, they (for the most part) preserve everything that needs to be preserved

@matt PDFs tend to be what I use for read-only documentation when I'm uncertain of the audienceFor my classes, I was teaching system administration, so the audience needed to learn about better options :)
