It’s interesting that Apple chose “Complication” as the name for the watchOS widgets. That’s exactly what they are, needless complications. The Apple Watch is a collection of added difficulties. A device to add complications to your life.

@majicDave it was actually an existing term that predates tha Apple Watch by decades. http://www.tourneau.com/watch-education/watch-complications.html

@jeff_lamarche ah so that’s where it comes from. Makes a lot more sense. I’m just feeling all grumpy-old-man about technology lately.

@majicDave @jeff_lamarche your mood wouldn’t have anything to do with the future of Open GL on Apple’s platforms, would it? Maybe this is what the October 30 event is all about: “we were wrong and we are making a u turn on Open GL” ;)

@nicktmro @jeff_lamarche ha yeah right! I understand dropping OpenGL, what I’d like is for Apple to embrace Vulkan. But my mood is due to gadgets generally. They’re all just getting worse. More and more bloated with needless features, more and more frustrating to use.

@majicDave @jeff_lamarche I was actually wondering the other day how many of the new features rolled into my current gen devices I actually use. Some new features I do like, but they tend to be “zero interaction” type things, such as exercise detection on Apple Watch. In contrast I barely even touched Walkie-Talkie and the new faces not being compatible with all complications seems insane to me.

@nicktmro @majicDave @jeff_lamarche Yeah, I'm still using the original Modular face because it's the only one that supports all the "complication" widgets I use. Total clusterfuck.
