@Shufei Kinda my answer: https://sunbeam.city/@cathal/100930268960021328 - But pithier answers exist, @neauoire summed it up well recently if I could locate his toot.. :P

@cathal @Shufei Solarpunk is the opposite of cyberpunk’s nihilism, offering “ingenuity, positive creation, independence, and community.”https://wiki.xxiivv.com/solarpunk

@neauoire @Shufei Thanks! :)I think Solarpunk, done well, is postcapitalist or capitalism-killing entirely as a side-effect. Ecosystems outgrow parasitism, they don't thrive on scorched earth.

@cathal @Shufei I've been reading Don't Sleep There Are Snakes, it's an excellent book on linguistics. But the people it studies have such an interesting outlook on life, their independence is truly inspiring. You should check it out :)

@neauoire @cathal Thanks, both of you, for these well considered summations.I like the juxtaposition against cyberpunk. Frankly, the whole cyberpunk aesthetic embodied an ethos I found fatalistic, exploitative, and self defeating. A Sun centred, Earth rooted movement feels far more productive to my heart, at least, and more ready for the hard, long haul.
