@tuxcrafting urxvt pixbuf is just to be able to add transparencyyou'll want 256-color support in urxvt, than w3m should be compiled with fbcon and imlib for images (i believe)here's my use flags between urxvt/w3m/and an application like ranger which uses the w3m image display

@tuxcrafting i don't think that's meant to be a standalone binary, i believe that's more of a library to call within another applicationtry using an application like ranger which implements w3m img display if you use ranger, you can try with thishttps://gitlab.com/ktsukik/dotfiles/blob/master/desktop/.config/ranger/rc.confyou can try to take a look at the ranger source to figure out how the w3mimgdisplay library works, i am unsure of those details

@tuxcrafting mmm, gotta figure where the issue is. it's probably something with w3m. i am unfamiliar with the alpine space tho.if you go to a website with w3m, does it display images correctly?

@tuxcrafting can you try to get a debug output with ranger? maybe it shows an error code or message that's easier to look up.

@saskia no program that displays image with w3m (w3m, neofetch, ranger) displays anythingand nope, ranger doesn't say anything in its debug output

@tuxcrafting @saskia check whether w3mimgdisplay is invoked directly within ranger's source and if the path is correct - i remember that being an issue on one machine I was taking care of

@tuxcrafting if it's not working in w3m, won't work in anything else that uses ityour setup looks right, so I'm a little stumped here. w3m img display is a bit of a hack tho, so i wonder if the issue is relevant to alpine being a musl only distro without using glibc I'll try to look into more after some sleep

@tuxcrafting @saskia do you have a compositor running? It might be the cause

@roka @saskia nope, i don't have any compositer running and urxvt isn't configured for 32-bit color depth

@tuxcrafting i would go to the alpine irc or forums and see if someone can help you therethere's a pretty large difference between alpine and many other distros because of the use of musl instead of glibc. i am not completely sure that would affect w3m image display, but i wonder because of how much of a hack it is.
