This attitude that some fediverse members have that they can dictate to other people how and what they can post is bizarre. Forbidding illegal shit, that's fine, telling someone they have to content warning photos of doors because they might be triggering to people who grew up in tents? Get fucked.

@Cat I like the idea of people being able to implement their own personal filtering for themselves instead of trying to get the rest of the world to follow their special requests

@tomasino @Cat Mastodon's filtering function is wizard at that. I have evaded cisterns of disturbance with a few seconds' work.

@Cat the ghub issue doesn't even account for all possible manners of entry for triggers. assume trigger to be an example of one of itself. "trigger" is not a good enough filter because it doesn't hit "triger" or "tirgger" ... let's use a regular expression like "[0-9A-Za-z]" and grep -v the entirety. but punctuation- escape-char- and emoji-triggered still aren't safe. also we need pre-emptive triggering prediction, which would work alot better with centralization instead of federation #getForked

@Cat "Please don't demand content warnings from strangers. Content warnings are a sort of social contract between an author and their followers; if you are not happy with how someone chooses to use them, do not follow that person or outright mute them, or mute words."https://mastodon.social/@Gargron/100605285971874684

@dredmorbius doors was me being facetious, someone demanding content warnings for tech/computers is what prompted the post
