Looking for a new printer and wondering if anyone of you already got some experience with the Epson EcoTank printers? What's the print/photo quality like? Is refilling as easy and clean as advertised?

@fribbledom I've got an ET 14000 . Print/photo quality seems good when you set it to best quality. I've got a bit of trouble since I did not use it for a while, and two of the black ink nozzles have dried up so good I can't get them clean. It doesn't show up on best quality even with black and white prints, though.I can have a look at refilling this evening, please remind me.

@fribbledom I have! We never did photo prints, though. It's a decent printer, and we have it for about three year and I have yet to refill any of the tanks.

@Anke Yeah, I was actually worried dried up ink is still a huge problem. Lost my last two HPs that way 🙄How long have you had this printer before the dried ink became a problem? How regularly do you use it?

@fribbledom The quality is terrific -- I've been using mine to proxy entire Magic: the Gathering cubes (~700 cards). High quality printing is almost indistinguishable from real cards. I've done two full cubes and haven't had to refill yet.

@fribbledom Yeah, that's the downside of not having to buy cartridges that contain the ink outlet... The printer stood around unused for months, maybe a whole year. There were more nozzles gummed up, but some cleaning runs fixed most of them, but the last two are really stubborn. Now I use it about once per week, and things didn't get worse, so that seems to be enough.

@fribbledom I'm looking for a new printer too and remain convinced that all printers are evil and hell-bent on their owners destruction.

@fribbledom On a more boring note, I asked on Facebook for printer recommendations and had two (yes TWO) separate recommendations for Epson Workforce printers, so Epson might not be shit. This statement does not imply any warranty or guarantees.

@fribbledom just got the cheapest of the lot, the L310. It starts printing immediately, speed is reasonable except in best quality. No match for the canon Pro-10s but good linux support. Image needs tweaking though, initial config was too warm.I printed over 50 A4 photos and ink levels barely moved. I might had splurged for the L850 if I knew it was this good.
