@mardiroos the book I'm reading now How Emotions Are Made is cool and interesting, and important but not in a way that makes you feel bad.

@mardiroos I've been reading a lot more le Guin lately and It is extremely cathartic. One of my fav authors ever. Her work is so bleak and melancholy but also so genuinely hopeful which is inspiring to me.

@mardiroos have you read the book about cephalopods and consciousness? It's kinda pop-psych but it's a fun read

@mardiroos So the two general works that I'd recommend are A. Roger Ekirch's At Day's Close: Night in Time's Past, which is kinda breezy and poetically written, and Craig Koslofsky's Evening's Empire: Night In Early Modern Europe, which is more thorough and scholarly.
