Has anyone named the new genre William Gibson is working in 'doompunk' yet?Cos I'm calling it that. He writes doompunk now. He's a seminal doompunk author.I'm not convinced that writing stories full of ecological doom and dread will inspire a generation to avoid it, but I guess it's no less effective than all those stories about (waves hands at America) neon corporate cyberdystopia which stopped us doing that for real.

@natecull did we actually avoid neon corporate cyberdystopia or was it just supplanted by the cheaper and immediately implementable ecodoom? there's room for both, given another decade...

@yet we did not avoid neon corporate dystopia, is precisely my point. Hold on while I re-authorise my book reading licence with the corporate electronic book data center and hand them the exact page number of the book I am currently reading. I am sure no harm will come from giving this information to our merciful corporate benefactors.
