@KatsudonJones yeah. It's depressing how much internet journalism relies on ad revenue, yet internet ads sometimes vehicles for malware, or cryptojacking, or hurt the site's usability.Thankfully patreon and similar services are a thing, but they aren't great for all circumstances :/

@DetectiveHyde @LimitOfX @KatsudonJones it's not just games journalism. It's this entire concept of getting in everyone's face, being a piece of shit to them, and getting rewarded for it that needs to die.Ad blockers only cut out the third part of the cycle, to fix the other two we need to put fear into them. Replace blocked ads with the contact details of whoever put them there. A person, not their employer. Do to them what they've done to us for 25 years.

@flussence @KatsudonJones @LimitOfX Jesus, I mean I hate these people, I hate them deeply and have done for years, I was proud to be part of the absolute most vicious element of gamergate for exactly this reason, but even I think what you're proposing is a little harshYou're like the doomguy of hating journalists, that's actually kind of awesome

@DetectiveHyde @KatsudonJones @LimitOfX I grew up in a place where there were very strict laws and zoning rules on outside advertising, and didn't get exposed to the flaming shitheap that the Web is until much later.A world without an advertising industry is possible
