My favorite moment in "Wayne's World" is when Wayne is trying out his dream guitar in the music shop on the home-video version of the film. The producers hadn't bothered to pay Led Zeppelin for the non-theatrical rights to "Stairway to Heaven" and the band wanted more than they were willing to pay when they tried to renegotiate, so instead Wayne just plays some nonsense so the store employee pointing to the "NO STAIRWAY" sign falls completely flat.

@noelle So many films / TV shows get reduced to nonsense because of musical licensing fees. Fortunately a few of them manage to be OK without it (Daria, for instance) but WKRP used the right music for the mood and the wrong music destroys the mood.

@noelle hah... I couldn't recognize "Stairway to Heaven" at the time I saw it (or the other times I've seen it afterwards) so I didn't even realize that it was the wrong riff. XD

@noelle For years I didn't know what Stairway Wayne was playing because it sounded nothing like Stairway to Heaven. (Never saw it theatrically.)
