@fribbledom For me... there isn't something that excites me right now about my future. But thats because there is one step/thing missing to make me excited: a job.When I have that one thing, I'll be excited about a lot I guess. Buying stuff from my own, earned money, getting my own place and being able to decorate it... yeah, thats something I'll look forward to :)

@fribbledom At the moment not much, I very much fear for our future on many fronts with anti-scientific and regressive viewpoints becoming more mainstream. The way things are going right now I see our ecosystem collapsing with nationalist governments unable and unwilling to act against the consequences. Meanwhile Chinese-style omnipresent surveilance is making personal freedom a concept of the past (my main motivation for joining Mastodon).

@fribbledom Now, being idealistic: I'm hoping for a change towards a self-preservatory progressive ideal, that views humanity as a whole. The settlement of the solar system is a neccessary step for that, because right now humanity is so incredibly vulnerable. There are several realistical mass-extinction events that can wipe this planet of us, and if we want humanity to last we need at least one 'backup population'.

@fribbledom Some time far down the line, when the sapling’s gone off to pursue whatever she will and the wife is either off doing her thing or has passed on before me (she’s older than me, so that’s likely), there will come a moment of such pervasive, crushing silence that I’ll think that I can hear individual molecules shifting in my environment. I deeply crave that sort of solitude.

@fribbledom Hmmm, tricky question.I think I'm quite comfortable with what we have in the present, except we have some issues to deal with including our own extinction. And it feels like I'm hoping beyond hope that it will be.And personally I'd love to be in a financially better position to help with it.
