Every time I look, climate change is predicted to be worse and more intense. We aren't going to have a revolution in time. I love you all, comrades.

@Secondary_world yeah.... I mean honestly it’s probably too late, our last real chance to get the world to act was probably under Bush 1, which sucks but, I mean, I guess with shifting baseline and all that we’ll probably just... get use to our world being constantly on fire?? 😬

@Secondary_world It's too late to stop climate change, but if we are able to begin and sustain a revolution during the next economic crash, we can build something better than what we have now. Maybe all we'll be able to do is destroy this awful country, but our comrades around the world will thank us.

@Secondary_worldfor now the revolution is staying alive and building whatever we can wherever we can as the shell of the old world crumbles around usrubble can be repurposed, science can still be done while the rich flee, and the state won't try as hard to kill you if it thinks the air will get to you firstit's gunna be rough but we can absolutely do this thing

@Secondary_world I've been thinking about this for a year or so: if human extinction is now locked in on a 400 year time scale (I'm estimating complex technological society has maybe 200 of that, tops), what does that mean for our obligations as leftists? Most of our philosophical engagement (left and otherwise) is built on the future being indefinite, but if the best political theory we can hope for is hospice, what changes? What stays?
