Hobbyist, tinkers and hackers are making communications systems that span the globe from their basements and bed rooms, but the idea of not voting for white men is far fetched, unrealistic and too difficult.Bigotry and hate in of itself is not some unstoppable force that swallows all. Bigotry and hate are allowed to persist because allegedly good people refuse to stand up and fight for a better world.That's how bigots win. Because most people make an excuse to do nothing.

People often tell me that most white people are decent and are doing the work behind the scenes.My response is where is the proof of this? Because what I see is white Americans joining together to put a racist sex offender into the presidency. What I see is white people fighting to put another prejudiced and sexist white guy on the bench in highest court in the land. What I see is white people making murderous cops rich.If most white people are 'decent', where are they?

What I do see is the most hateful, bigoted and prejudiced white people leading the discussion in that social group.What I do see white people either lending their voices to hateful and regressive ideologies or not saying anything at all.What I do see is white people hiding behind everyone else at rallies, meetings and organizations.What I do see is white people making excuse after excuse about why they can't stand up and be heard when it comes to standing up for what is right.

I get people want me to believe that there are decent enough whet people out there. Yeah, I get that.The only question I ask is based on what? I think a lot of times people just want me to believe it without any real proof of it although we have plenty of proof that, honestly, white people really aren't shit.What people don't understand is that I want to be proven wrong. I would LOVE to be way off base about white people.But history is history and facts are the facts.

@Are0hI'd never downplay how vital it is for POC to be realistic and intelligently suspicious of white people. And I'm not gonna attach a "but" to this. I don't think all white people are "decent deep down", whatever that means. I do think people have a hell of a lot more potential to be just and loving than they activate or feel in touch with.

@tajshekinah Oh yeah, we agree on that. The potential is always there.But we have to _realistic_ in the context of the society we live in. The hard reality a lot of white people don't want to accept is that trusting white people can lead to our death.Just like women trusting men can kill them. Trans folks trusting cis people can kill them.This is not to say the possibility of trust between these cultures doesn't exist. But we gotta be real about it. Our lives depend on it.
