I often compare oil to an eldritch force humanity tapped into without even starting to consider it's ramifications. It's a black ichor we draw forth from the earth, presenting in massive quantity to enormous, unintelligible temples before running our entire civilization on it.Picture being an adventurer looking at a refinery, smelling the reek of cracked hydrocarbon, looking at the massive pipes leading in and out to cross to parts unknown like veins...
