btw to anyone contemplating switching instances, i dont mean to rag on bofa because i love it, but... most of the reason i set up witches.live is i was upset about the instance i primarily used before The Migration closing down.i dont promise to never fuck up, but i do promise that i will likely keep witches.live running to the bitter end even if in the future a bunch of people get mad at me

i hope selfagency doesn't shut down bofa, it's still good, but i dont think publicly musing about shutting it down is helping much right now and i know it hits fears that i've had about relying on others' instances.if you don't want to bother setting up an instance but would like an instance run by an admin who absolutely promises to not fold even if a bunch of people get mad at me and leave, it will be a cold day in hell before i close witches.live

also like, a lot of people are running to knzk and i like knzk and they are very nice, but please consider that maybe a huge influx of english speaking shitposters is a bit burdensome, and y'all are potentially causing big problems that will be hard for people in a context foreign to yours to deal with. there are a good number of instances run by native English speakers who understand leftist drama beyond my own that have been running for some time, and i would suggest considering one of those if you do move off of bofa

@anna this is one of the worries I have about KNZK as an instance long term. that and idk if the Japanese moderation team is exactly 'in tune' with these weirdo leftists squating in their instance in terms of desires for a community and acceptable content. the language barrier is a real issue in terms of dealing with complex issues like drama where small wording means a lot ot people as emotions are running high and, as great as he is, idk if KNZK himself could deal with anything big

@anna @CornishRepublicanArmy I've had this same feeling for a while. Since I migrated to knkz, actually. I have a feeling that sooner or later someone is going to do or say something shitty, and the admins are not going to know how to deal with it because they literally have no idea what any of it means, then people will get mad at them and migrate again.

@Rigatonimonster @anna @CornishRepublicanArmy the admin has stated that he doesn't really take action on reports and its our job to protect ourselves with mutes and blocks, which is fine for some people but i don't think it will work for others

@thatcosmonaut @Rigatonimonster @anna @CornishRepublicanArmy as far as i can tell and with my limited japanese, a lot of the japanese speakers of knzk have made alts on or moved to the main jp instances. knzk himself does not seem concerned about the large foreign influx, and could certainly have prevented it to some extent. i think he kind of enjoys the experience but i also believe it has pushed out others who dont speak english. it was my first instance and this is my first alt, mainly for this reason. i tried from the beginning to make posts which would appeal to int'l users but thats hard to keep up and many have fallen back into a shitposting routine
