@Rude @turbomoist @epsiloco look inside your heart and ask yourself if any of the games past 1 are still "survival horror".2 is more linear and takes cues from action film in its pacing, plot, and cutscenes.3 and CV are barely survival and keep a high tension pace throughout.4 is 4.I won't argue action is the most representative of the series, but being both ridiculous and stupid is a constant.

@why @TurboMoist @Epsiloco Taking elements from other genres isn't a bad thing. Completely abandoning the original gameplay premise and mostly serious horror tone is what 5-6 did, even 4 played carefully with those elements and was fine still.

@Rude @turbomoist @epsiloco I agree, 4-6 had less tension and more action. What I'm trying to get at, is 2, 3, and CV had the same trend. People give those games a free pass since it kept the original gameplay formula, but they really weren't suited for it. 5 just built off what 4 ended on, and 6 followed what 5 did well. The horror element was never really respected, and the series hasn't been scary for a while
