I think consumer-driven initiatives to "save the planet" are popular not because they're easy but because they're safe. Nothing's on the line and you can always stop boycotting Walmart or repurposing your empty takeaway tubs, resume your wasteful ways if the effort and cost of making "ethical" choices gets to be unbearable.There's not really any "coming back" from being arrested for getting in a cop's face at a protest. When you go on strike you don't get those wages back and you risk losing your job.Looked at another way, if boycotting could make a difference, it would be outlawed. Just look at BDS.
