       So... the elected government of the UK negotiates a deal with the EU. Now the rest of the parliament doesn't like the outcome and now the EU should accept some new terms without getting anything out of it. Did I get this right? #politics #brexit

       @zerok Almost. The deal was negotiated by Theresa May's government, including the backstop. One of the votes last night was to re-negotiate the backstop. Voting against the backstop was encouraged by May. May was asking MPs to vote against her own deal, they did. Some of the press said this was a victory for May. No, really.

       @fitheachMight as well declare war against Ireland (all of it) and be done with it.Effectively the ugly tart is asking MPs to renege on the peace deal that ended decades of violence in Northern Ireland and in Britain.I am amazed that she hasn't been thrown in a cell yet (prison or psychiatric, doesn't matter).@zerok

       @61 Note that one of May's reasons for re-visiting the backstop was the DUP. The DUP are Northern Irish Unionists who are also responsible for keeping the Conservatives in government. Had it not been for the DUP May would have lost the last election.This gives the DUP a lot of power over May.@zerok
