there is a vibe on twitter that i just don't like. you can't really tell who's cool or not, and you sure as heck can't feel safe slinging out whatever's on your mind

it's kinda likesome corporate dweebs all got together in a meeting room in downtown san francisco and hashed out just how much to allow people to express themselves. too little and you lose them, too much and they may do something you didn't expect.have to give them just enough to be marginally useful and addicting, but not enough to say anything actually meaningful or challenging the status quo. keep 'em on the skinner box and feed 'em ads

@KitRedgrave I started thinking about this last week when I considered making an "I'm gay" shootpost on Twitter and realized that the site is socially different enough that that'd be really weird, and the more I thought about it, the more creeped out I got about the way the service expects you to interact, and how that colors the way totally unrelated interactions on it take place. It's super weird.

@makyo @KitRedgrave also keep in mind Twitter was initially a mailing list service for SMS. It mutated when smartphones showed up.
