Alright! I'm going to make myself a new email address, and finally retire my gmail account. It was deltachat that finally pushed me over the edge, but it's been coming for a long time. I want to pick a cool URL for my email address. Anyone have any suggestions?

@ajroach42 Don't listen to me. I bought a domain that is not that good because it is cheap 😃. I kind of want a different domain. Lol

@ajroach42 It's also funny to me that we are saying to the wider internet, "you've done such a piss poor job with chat that we would rather go back to email".

@kelbot @ajroach42 Oh, it's not a piss poor job with chat -- it's exactly what the major companies wanted. We basically had unified, cross-platform chat a decade ago with XMPP, but I guess it wasn't able to be monetized enough when anyone can choose any client they want on their end.

@kelbot @ajroach42 I think of it more like, "None of these other solutions have solved the issues people have had."Technically, Slack did solve the issue with spam, but the solution there was to ignore everyone but your specific circle. That's a bit of a sledgehammer. If you treat your email inbox like a messaging client, "this message is older than <x> days" becomes "this message is deleted without being read." That's much simpler to deal with.
