its been pretty wild to watch right wingers pivot in my lifetime from "under capitalism, we can all be rich if we work hard" to "it is the Natural Law for some of us to own 40 mansions while others cannot afford a simple apartment"

turns out you can justify a lot of obviously silly things by starting from the assumption that Capitalism Is Good and then working out all of your ideological positions backward from there

its obvious now more than ever that lots of people work hard and never get ahead, so to maintain your assumption you have to decide that its actually good and normal and inevitable for some people to be ultra rich and ultra poor
