Eventually the fediverse will be seen as a communication platform for 50 year old geezers, their problematic, detached politics, and ancient jokes.

@wizard Assuming Fediverse means mostly Mastodon, my guess is closer to livejournal culture than bbs culture - a little bit... softer/younger?I don't think the platform will age with its current users - I think they'll migrate toward different normie platforms as they age, while (after its peak) increasingly niche artsy youngsters and early middle-agers will join Mastodon.

@emsenn I suppose it all depends on who your neighbors are, I guess. I do mean the fediverse; around my corner, half of the users are on pleroma while the other half are mastodon users with a few gnu social people here and there.I really can't see many people here migrating to more mainstream platforms, but I can definitely see us getting washed out by newer generations and at least being pushed into our own little corner of fedi, assuming we're still using social media at all.
