I've been told that the instance is blocking Mastodon dot social, but there hasn't been a date posted on when it's happening, and while I know some of the reasons why it's mainly bits and pieces, so it's kind of muddy. it's hard for me to make a choice without that infoIf wanted to move to another instance to keep my relationships with the people I follow on kitty town, I want it to be under my own terms and not that of what another instance is doing.

this also seems like an ultimatum- "them or us", which I don't abide by. I've been on multiple internet platforms where this happens (Tumblr, Twitter, metafilter) and every time I try to side with someone at the expense of my own comfort to be as "unproblematic" as possible it ends in very real anxiety attacks and depression. I unfortunately had to let those people go for my own sake. it hurt, but it made being online a lot easier

I feel that instance blocking in this case sets a bad precedent, but if the users of Kitty town want that they have a right to do so. I was really worried that me being on Mastodon dot social would make me "problematic" in the eyes of some, but not for something obvious. like, if eugan was acting like J Dorsey or Lowtax, then I would absolutely have moved. I disagree with some of what Eugen does but he's one developer, he's under a lot of constraints
