I haven't worked with visionary founders since General Magic, which was a company kinda overflowing with visions at all levels. I *have* worked with a bunch of white guys who confused having single decent ideas with being visionaries.

The worst self-described visionary was the kind of guy who'd throw snack foods at his personal assistant when frustrated.

@ceejbot I remember the look of death I got when, after being told the CEO of a company's only real job was to be "the visionary," asking, "...Do you need one of those? It seems like you have a clear notion of what work you should do for steady growth for the next 8 to a dozen quarters."The CEO started working with the sales teams a few weeks later.

The irony is that "single decent idea well-executed" is *enough*. It's hard enough; it's useful enough; it's inspiring enough.
