@darius might be political but they are using a lets encrypt cert with the wrong hostname.

@Skryking This kind of thing just goes to show that while letsencrypt opens https to a lot more people, there is still an enormous conceptual barrier to getting anything self-hosted over HTTPS

@darius yes it does... They offer wildcard certs which would give them what they need.. but oh well.

@Skryking I have gotten letsencrypt wildcard certs and it is a nightmare of a process. The certbot CLI doesn't support it via any kind of automated wizard, you have to do a bunch of manual steps involving uploading DNS TXT records. For someone who just wants to make their site have a bunch of subdomains and isn't an expert, it's imepentrable
