I just now read the article regarding Mastodon being dead/unpolitical/not a good place, and ehh. It doesn't fit my experience with Mastodon and the Fediverse at all. While I agree that governance should be discussed, it's a tricky issue and the article rehashes bygones which open old community wounds instead of focussing on the future. It felt unhelpful and adversarial, and like something we should for the most part shrug at, move on, and remember to be excellent to each other.

@rixx So many sites are writing Mastodon is dead, while Mastodon keeps growing. The some arguments are as stupid as "»Toot« sounds weird".Let's just ignore that Mastodon is dead and keep using it :-).Btw. thanks for updating that fast after the new release.

@rixx That the w3c is design-by-committee-ing the core fediverse protocols to death is a bigger problem in my opinion. We'll not get a better social network experience with just one software project, even if you can deploy your own server.

@rixx Where is this article? I may need to post about it. (Hopefully, I can get the WordPress auto-(t)oot plugin working again.)

@rixx we're not depending upon the grace of media outlets.Mastodon as a technology can be used to build nuclear resistant networks. As long as there are admins who host and users who toot mastodon cannot die.

@rixx I am not really involved a lot in the larger Mastodon community, but every time I open my Mastodon client and read infosec.exchange I either learn something or have a pleasant conversation. If this is how dead or whatever social networks feel I cannot wait for Twitter to go the way of the dodo.

@rixx meh. its more than expected that if any new sm platform is looking at all successful, the PR machines of all the existing platforms will work hard to smear.. and yes: be excellent to each other :yayblob:
