@garfiald it's always weird where we draw the lines about who to joke about and who notlike. was having this convo re: dril earlier. like that person? used to post with em before. had no idea they were dril. it kinda threw me a little to find out? but it was like. it humanized that account so suddenly in retrospect, like "oh my god i see the throughline" and likenow when people post about dril as though the person and persona are the same it fucks me up a bit! cause im wanna go "whoa easy"

@garfiald it's so easy to confuse author and work when the two are so aligned, as in the case of philosophical text - because we kinda need to believe our own ideas to pursue them fully, even just to go "lol nope, maybe a different path down this maze next time"but doubly when people are alive, it's like. let's keep an eye on that they're people, and remind em of that too (for better and worse! they're real, human, and not larger than life, in the case of celebrity)

@brushy absolutely, it's a persistent question, and one i never really stop thinking about. It's certainly the case that reading something doesn't tell you anything about what that person is like in a social context. but people also sometimes reveal things about themselves in writing that they'd never tell their closest friends
