I really like using Fish Shell!About Fish Shell:https://fishshell.com/docs/current/tutorial.html#tut_getting_startedInstallation Instructions:https://fishshell.com/#get_fish_linuxI've been checking it out today after listening to the latest episode of Linux Unplugged in which it gets a great plug. The episode also includes an interview with one of the main developers:https://linuxunplugged.com/283#shell #fishshell

@politicalcustard I loved fish when I first discovered it, it is so much better than bash. However it's not compatible with bash so copy pasting one-liners often doesn't work (much better now with the recent update I've been told, but still). I use zsh with a couple of plugins that emulate some fish behaviour (about half the zsh-related things that are in the AUR) so that I can be lazy and copy bash stuff over 😃

@Matter I don't know what a lot of that means, but I shall enjoy investigating, tomorrow, the terms I don't understand. Thanks for introducing me to new stuff. :)

@politicalcustard @MatterPardon me for wedging in;I've heard of fish and z, but feel they are crutches which would make it harder to walk when unavail.I enjoy learning trad. tools! The good, 'ol Unix way!:terminal: Hence I learn shells closer to the original Bourne Shell sh(1) and the ed(1) text editor. Then I will try vi(1), and maybe vIM(1):vim: .sh(1) is quite a challenge after being spoiled w/ bashisms (like autocompletion with 'tab' and history with '↑'). Enjoy convenience, I won't 😝

@neb @Matter What you dismissively call 'crutches', I call 'roller skates'! Each to their own! :D

@politicalcustard @MatterI guess the feeling you get when taking on the skates is the same I get when throwing the crutches! Each to their own - the power of free software!!
