@orbifx @bobI can't see any other outcome other than T. May losing the main vote tonight. The amendments don't amount to a hill of beans and most comments I've seen form MPs today are either ignorant or wilfully misleading. It'll probably be the same tonight.

I'm back!Just in time for the result.BTWBiggest ever government defeat was Ramsay MacDonald (first Labour govt) in 1924 when it lost the Campbell case vote by 166 votes. Is Theresa on course to beat that record?

Yes!Theresa May loses vote by 202 to 432. The Theresa May government has at last achieved something: a record breaking loss. She will be pleased to topple Labour from the top position.

@fitheach does this break the May government? I'm not too clear on how your system works, but I've heard comments that losing this vote would set wheels in motion for a new election.I'm just fuzzy on the details and a bit envious that you can actually change governments when things are broken without having to wait through to a pre-scheduled election.

@crossgolf_rebel I don't think so, not yet anyway. Ever since the EU referendum result, it has been said that there isn't a natural majority in parliament for a no-deal. Anything could happen, of course.I now expect statement from EU that this changes nothing. The Withdrawal Agreement stays as it is.

@RandomDamage The leader of the opposition has stated he will table a motion of no confidence. However, I will be flabbergasted if the government lose the no confidence vote. I really can't see Tories doing a turkeys for Christmas thing. The crucial thing will be the DUP. I can't see the DUP jeopardising their influential position. No confidence vote will fail. My prediction. 😃

@crossgolf_rebel As expected press release by Juncker (basically saying no change):"The Withdrawal Agreement is a fair compromise and the best possible deal."http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_STATEMENT-19-432_en.htm

The photo below was taken in the Westminster parliament, this evening. It is some of the MPs *queueing* to vote for or against Theresa May's #Brexit deal. Why? Because each MP has to physically pass through either the "Aye" lobby or the "No" lobby to vote.Consequently, votes (or divisions as they are called at Westminster) take an awful long time. The 21st century hasn't reached Westminster yet.#politics #Westminster #UK

@fitheach so the process would be Critical Loss -> No Confidence Vote -> Election Season? Thanks for taking the time to enlighten me.

@RandomDamage I'm pretty certain there won't be an election. For an election to happen the current government have to lose the no-confidence vote. MPs of the current governing party won't vote for the NC motion. They wouldn't want to risk an election where they could lose. The current govt is in a minority and they rely on the DUP to keep them in power. The DUP won't support NC. By doing so they would risk losing their unique position of influence.

The photo was taken by Pete Wishart MP. So, the photo will be the queue for the "No" lobby. The queue for that lobby was more than twice as big as for the Ayes.
