@sim well my slouching was at the chest more than the neck. A slight forward tilt of the neck isn’t so bad I think but being straight enough where one is aligned head chest pelvis feels pretty good. The once in awhile glance downwards suffices unless you’re worried for ice, in that case maybe more looking down.

@awl That is a good point. I might try to slouch less at the chest when out. I need to catch myself more while sitting too. But it really does help for confidence, doesn't it? I definitely need what height I can get!

@Seq @sim Good = noble = powerful = beautiful = happy = beloved of the gods~It's not a surprise. The trick is in being able to perceive *real* beauty. Prettiness or handsomeness on top of a disgusting core isn't beautiful, and anyone perceptive can sense it:-------------------------Lord Vivec and the Contentious Beasts-------------------------A shalk and a kagouti were strutting back and forth in a foyada, casting aspersions of one another's looks. "You are the ugliest creature alive," the shalk told the kagouti. "No, YOU are the ugliest creature alive," the kagouti told the shalk. For each thought himself most handsome, and the other most ugly. Then Lord Vivec chanced by, and settled their dispute. "No, you BOTH are the ugliest creatures alive, and I will not have my pleasant sojourn spoiled by your unseemly squabbling." So he dealt them both mighty blows, shattering their skulls, and silencing their argument, and went merrily upon his way.And thus Lord Vivec proved that ugliness is as much in one's manner as in one's appearance.-------------------------Both of you seem to have beautiful cores. :3

@sim @Seq All that is gold does not glitter,Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither,Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes, a fire shall be woken,A light from the shadows shall spring;Renewed shall be blade that was broken,The crownless again shall be king---------------------A thing that is beautiful but tarnished or broken is still beautiful. It's just awaiting repair. It's like that Japanese art (Kintsugi) where they glue broken pottery back together with gold, so that gold threads run through it where the breaks once were. Damage in itself can be a thing of beauty.A thing that is fundamentally ugly is still ugly nomatter how new, or untarnished, or whole, or polished it is.Your core is fine.

@detectivehyde @Seq This is what I want to strive towards, although I suspect there will always be parts hidden to me. Sometimes I feel like I've re-discovered parts of myself that I once learned about. That took a back seat to whatever else was happening in my life.

@detectivehyde @Seq Hmm. One tactic that I do is remove whatever is holding me back in my mind about something, and try to imagine if I would do this anyway. See whether my behaviour would change in my mind. Like, would my style of dressing change if I took away the fears I have about it? I don't think it would. I'd probably experiment here and there, but ultimately... I think that I'd be conservative still. There are also things that I've worried about and looked back upon, wondering what I did them but then concluded that I would do them anyway... perhaps out of habit or my nature. Like it is in me to attempt to help those closest to me.

@detectivehyde @Seq Well, I've had to learn more about myself. I had an existential crisis very early in life, and you don't get through something like that without learning about yourself. It sort of forces you to look at yourself in a way. Perhaps one of the few treasures that depression gifted me after my self-neglect.

@Seq That's good. I hope people feel safe around me too, and that I can handle more than I might appear to. I wouldn't want people to think they couldn't come to me because I wasn't strong or capable of handling it. Or that they think it is a burden on me. If I like them, then it is not. Especially when I reach out. It is one of my few strengths, to be someone friends feel they can come to and talk with. That it is safe to. It's something I've cultivated. Now if only I could really apply that to myself.
