       So I went to a fairly new pub for the first time, last night, with a friend who owed me a birthday drink. They had a cider on tap that I had, they also told me there were ciders in the cooler. For a 2nd drink I had one of the ciders in the cooler. I grabbed one that I liked and it was marked $3, and I was like NICE PRICE! I brought it to the bar where I was sitting and the barkeep said it was $5. And I was like, but it says $3. She said, "It's 3 to take out and 5 to drink here."  1/2

       @Ricardus the only parallel I can think of is Italian restaurant pricing. If you take up a table you're charged more. That's why so many people eat on the steps of churches

       @tomasino People tried to explain to to me, but I was like, so if I came here with my friend and he was drinking, but I wasn't, would you charge me to sit? At the very least, they need to do what I said and label the items in the cooler with the higher price, otherwise they're only going to get into arguments.But more precisely, have you ever seen this in a bar before?

       @tomasino  It may have been written on a sign somewhere, but it wasn't obvious, and i think they're making a huge mistake by labeling the items with the lower price. This is just the rigid logician in me talking. It wasn't worth the fight, and since my friend was buying he just told me to be quiet and he paid them the $5.

       @RicardusThat's absolutely a horrible, alienating business plan. I would never go back to a bar that pulled a bait and switch like that. It's one thing if an entire culture is like that, and you know it going in. But one isolated bar? Wishing them luck with that, lol.
