@thegibson Only when it was something I really wanted to have a copy of in the highest quality possible. SP was basically my home-recorded VHS equivalent to the Criterion Collection.

@Rob_T_Firefly right!I had two holy tapes that could not be recorded over. One had all three movies from the Star Wars OT.The other had Flight of the navigator, and two Christmas movies that I can't remember now.I also remember taping Transformers, Voltron, and Robotech obsessively.

@Rob_T_Firefly I also distinctly remember a wired remote with a single slide switch on it to pause and resume recording...It was kind of an awesome analogue device looking back.

@thegibson My main standing recording obsessions were the various 1990s "Star Trek" variants, "Max Headroom" and "Twin Peaks" from when Bravo broadcast them ad-free, "Red Dwarf" from PBS, and "Quantum Leap."And woe be to anyone who dared to touch my holy cassettes containing my home recordings of the 1996 "Doctor Who" TV movie, or the miniseries of Stephen King's "The Stand."
