Richard Stallman is what happens when scientists try to create a man with the greatest possible ratio of bad opinions to good ones

@BestGirlGrace Exactly 😆Some of the stuff I'm reading from him I'm just like "Wow, exactly! And it's expressed so eloquently, too! 😊"And then I read other stuff and I'm just like "No... geez... no... Yikes... yikes... yikes... yikes......yikes."

@BestGirlGrace its like when you say to someone "okay i see your point on x, but wouldn't that imply y, and y is obviously completely wrong and a terrible take" and they can't help but double down on y otherwise that'd prove them wrong about x. and dont get them on to how y implies z..........

@jk Exactly! And then he does this for his entire career, dying on terrible hills, even on ones that nobody should have been on in the first place.

@MadestMadness it's unbelievable to me how he's been in charge of this much for this long

@BestGirlGrace the worst part is that because he was like the only prominent non-hellcapitalist open source guy for decades there is a part of me that wants to not hate him no matter how much of an awful person he is.

@MorningSong Yeah, GNU was a good idea, and he's in the right about the corporate hellscape, but uhhe should not be in charge of what he's in charge of

Stallman thinks children can consent to sex and said "I'm King around here, how dare you go against my wishes" when people proposed removing a weird abortion joke from the glibc documentation

@BestGirlGrace wait wouldn't the greatest possible ratio be, any number of bad opinions and exactly zero good ones

@BestGirlGrace I read his wikiquote page and well it made me feel like I do when I start reading a political speech.Like at first I am super excited that I found someone who agrees with me over something I thought was a "radical" opinion (in this case: free software and free software education for interested students) and then he said stuff that started making me uncomfortable and it started going downhill from there.Sadly it happens every time I think I find a politician I would like.

@00dani Fine, the greatest real-valued ratiothere's no challenge in finding people with no good opinions.
