had to be escorted to the hospital yesterday by @envgen cos I couldn't move without causing agonising pain in my neck! we considered tooting from the waiting room but didn't want to scare anyonethey think my existing condition's got worse so I'm waiting on an MRI scan on thursday and in the meantime on a shiiiiit tonne of painkillers, being physically dragged out of bed each morning cos its too painful to do it myself, and regularly losing items to the black hole floor

@envgen I may be tooting about my experiences cos that's what's happening right now - things have obviously got worse, but please don't worry. I'm in manageable condition, in a safe location and very lucky to have family and friends willing to drag me out of bed and dive into the black hole floor

ok so this is really interesting, the drug I'm on, gabapentin, it works like an opiatepain appaz works in two ways, one is that you feel the physical sensation, and the other is that the brain responds to it negativelygabapentin doesn't get rid of pain, it just gets rid of the negative brain reaction - in other words, you still feel pain, you just don't care

part of my response to this situation is genuine - I'm glad to be safe and stable and I'm not super worried, and thanks to basic painkillers the pain has defo reduced...but since I'm like this anyway, the gabapentin didn't have to do a lot of work to make me feel totally relaxed about the situation to the point that I find it funnyand I'm only two pills in! just how hilarious can being totally incapacitated get?? stay tuned as shonalika gets high af to find out

@Shonalika they both come from latin 'fasces' meaning bundle or group - the 'group' definition evolved into fascist for obvious reasons and the 'bundle' definition went through some weird misogyny along the way (something about women being a burden, like carrying a bundle of sticks? maybe) and that meaning came to be applied to the gays because they are like women?? i guess. anyway thats todays linguistics chat

@envgen @shonalika So fascist faggots are a very heavy burden? Not that I expect an answer from instances that filter.
