Downloaded the Insight Timer app because several friends find it useful. So far it’s forced me to register with an email. I also went into privacy and could ONLY turn off sharing my meditations beyond my friends (I won’t be making any friends on here but still). In fact? It’s an On to limit it to friends. Can’t turn it off entirely. AND “Your single most recent activity will still display on the map screen”So WHAT powers the map? #privacy #tech

I don’t have an answer for that, I’m trying to figure it out.

@ruth I used it for meditation for a very long time. Now I just use a plain old meditation timer my aunt gave to me years ago, one that was manufactured long before such devices could connect to the internet and share my data.I wonder if there are just plain old timer apps with interval timers included that one can use instead. Insight Timer just feels far too "social" for me.

@ruth there are less "social" apps out there if you're just looking for guided meditations?

@ruth stop breathe and think has both (default is to do emotional checkins and it recommends practices for that day, but you can also select what you want, including timed meditations)
