@sadcatstarry more than one reason. mostly relating to capitalism but also western society.some of it is just about balancing cost "efficiently", meaning, if that restaurant served smaller portions, they'd have to charge less, but they need to have their prices set high enough to make a profit.another reason is that western society trains people to feel full. when we don't feel full, we seek out more and more. feeling full also releases a certain amount of dopamine and hormones, which help us think we feel good. there's a pavlovian training aspect to it, which is incredibly harmful to not just the people consuming the food, but also the world & many people living in it.

@sadcatstarrybecause if you were in a restaurant and you ask for seconds, they'll have to charge you for it, and nobody wants that. :P
