@hiroyuki @nerthos I dont think he should do anything in the first place. That's just not how free software works. If this was a centeralized/corperate thing you might get somewhere with that logic. Thats not a thing for free software. As long as the project has value it will live regardless of who writes it. You could fork it, call it something else, and go from there if you wanted to.

@nerthos That's putting Lain in a tough spot. Their actions on their site my be pretty foul to many of us but looking at contributions on the development they are an important part of the team and do good work. The main issue for me is their behaviour as a spokesperson for the project, self-made or otherwise.

@dude @nerthos If he does good work and then goes on about "hacking" people by expoliting vunerabilites he's coded in pleroma/ neglected to fix despite knowing about them, then that's negating any contribution he could possibly make

@dielan @nerthos I'm not expecting lain to do anything on the basis of FREE software because FREE SOFTWARE works on the distribution and openness of the code to other developers.But Pleroma is working under the principles of the fediverse of allowing people to communicate without having to fear censorship from any party, because you could eventually be hosting your own instance. If inside Lain's dev team there's one person that it's playing to be the cyberpolice and threatening to take down instances just because HE sees it as problematic, either Lain (the project leader) does something about this or is a complete hypocrite.

@dude @majkatsu @nerthos I just think misunderstanding the tech (such as thinking this as some backdoor "hack") isnt helping anyone. There's much more wrong that has taken place people should be talking about, like reporting to TLDs in the first place. This is a slippery slope.
