A McDonald's near me was destroyed and rebuilt from the ground up for no real reason. They have a waterfall now. They put all their workers out of a job for a McDonald's waterfall

@leonthotsky It was probably because of some shenanigans involving the building company, those are sketchy af and always keen to make a quick buck off of useless projects

@leonthotsky the one near me was shut down for a month to add 4 kiosks, replacing some of the cashiers

@Admin that's happened at a couple of ones near me. I went through the drive thru at this one so idk if it's happened here but it wouldn't surprise me at all

@leonthotsky sad :-/ It’s cool and all because I love technology, but not at the cost of someone’s job. And it’s not like McDonald’s is going to pay their employees more or lower the price of their items with the money they saved no longer needed as many cashiers 😑

@leonthotsky Is it possible they have a waterfall in order to put all their old workers out of a job?I was once "laid off" because of "prolonged renovations" that were miraculously completed the same day the owner returned from his honeymoon, and which involved no visible changes to the property, but involved firing everyone and rehiring new staff at minimum wage.

@datashade Deleted my old comment bc I misinterpreted. It's always possible. I'm sorry that happened to you. That's awful. ):

@leonthotsky Thanks, it wasn't that bad, a part-time job over a summer in college. The owner was a spoiled rich kid padding his MBA application with "innovative startup" business models created by repeatedly 'disrupting' his own employeesSo it was a blessing to get out when I did.

@leonthotsky maybe that's just what they want you to think and the waterfall hides the entrance to a new secret NSA facility underneath the building?? :thinking_hard:
