@freon I once watched a video with the Japanese man who composed the wonderful music for this gameHe lives out in a farm village in the middle of nowhere nowHe said the reason why he put so much work into Mr. Gimmicks OST was because he figured it'd be a game that'd be popular with kids, and he wanted the to make kids happy with his upbeat cheerful music.

@freon This is certainly one of those games that has been lost to time quite a bit and it's music honestly is underappreciatedI don't think it's ever seen re-release It's a shame it didn't make it to the Wii's VC and with how Nintendo is now with releasing old games it's likely it'll never be seen again

@Ocean it's risen back as a cult classic in retrogaming circles, finally with the reputation it well deserves as an extremely mechanically and artistically solid title. in my top 5 for nes/famicom for sure.

@freon I played Bonk's Adventure randomly on my Wii one summer night in 2014 and those memories are VERY DEAR TO MEIt's a lovely little gameEveryone seems to love the Turbographics version better, I own that one too, but idk I like the charm of the NES one uwu

@Ocean @Che5hire vrc7 + 2a03 creates a beautiful FM/pulse hybrid kinda comparable to the PC engine in some waysthere's also the namco 163, a wavetable-based chip used in some of their famicom games, that i've fallen in love with from working in famitracker with it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7weuUmJyi50

@freon @Ocean @Che5hire No but seriously it's one of the most underrated osts of recent times and the N163 covers even beat the originals in some ways which is amazing. Game itself slaps too, and runs perfectly on Linux thru Steam Play, highly recommended.
