was playing pool at the bar with this rando and he went out of his way to say degrading shit about women at me, i never know what to do in that kind of situation because I'm probably not gonna change some random persons mind about that shit over a pool game and it's probably not worth it to start shit but it's just gross it makes me feel awful. i dunno

@thatcosmonaut A positive way of looking at it is he's not being degrading at someone who is going to be influenced. So it could have been worse, no? Part of my job is smiling and nodding at people who are being racist. They probably think they're grooming me, when actually they're hardening my socialism.

@thatcosmonautKnow that feel. Sitting at the lunch table yesterday and two dudes sit across from me, which is cool: few seats. But then they start calling the cafeteria worker a b*tch cuz "she was taking her time" and its like they're fuckin slammed! Cool tf and wait in line. There's no reason for that. Was really weird cuz then they started talking to me about normal shit as if they hadn't just been shittalking a cafeteria worker and being sexist af. The same question always: "What is it about me that makes them think I'd be receptive to hearing that?"

@Gattogateaux @thatcosmonaut people are so socially malleable on this stuff. I find most people who are saying these things out loud to a stranger are specifically seeking validation bc they know what they're saying is questionable.Many don't care if you correct them and get mad out of that insecurity, but also many others will quickly admit "you're right I was just being an asshole" or something.
