@ayy I don’t understand why America is friends with ‘completely real coup’ Erdoğan, and all this Kurdish faction sometimes separatist baggage that comes along with it. Why keep shitty friends and sell out the stable oil source?

@fashywhitefem It's an interesting question. That would be a bold move and it would take some time to properly consider the pros and cons of it.Contributing may be Turkeys strategic position between Europe and Asia. That they have been allies for a while. That they are a country rather than a wannabe-country.

@ayy @fashywhitefem .tr is actually a quite significant influence as a commercial and manufacturing power in the region. (really: the only other commercial power in the region with bigger influence there isn't russia, but china.) turkey as a country could probably get on very well without any relationship at all with both USA and Russia, but their ruling elite pretty much depend on the support of both USA and Russia and know well their country's strategic importance in the geopolitical games played by those powers and so dutifully play their part. it's really not a big surprise to me why they're relevant.

@awg @ayy Thinking more on it I can name a few Air Force reasons as well. That’s why the garbage title, I suppose. Gotta remind myself of Menchen’s evergreen rule of simple solutions more often.
